I believe most readers will find that they have a deeper understanding and appreciation for attachment theory and how psychotherapy can positively modify psychotheraly attachment styles. Accordingly, I focus on the therapeutic relationship as a developmental crucible, the centrality of the nonverbal dimension, and the transformative influence of psychothefapy and mindfulness.

The Nonverbal Realm I: Proximity, Protection, and Separation — Mary Ainsworth: Very clear and authoritative but overall a bit dull, it sort of put me off attachment theory – I recognise its vital contribution to understanding clients but it doesn’t account for the wonderful richness and contradictory nature of human personality and experience.

I have been a DBT and trauma therapist for 11 years.

Complex concepts are carefully elucidated and brilliantly illustrated with clinical examples. I wrote the book with an audience of therapists in mind It encourages to dig a bit deeper and to face the fear that a client may be displeased with therapy or angry as the therapist, and helps re-frame this as an opportunity for deepening both the therapeutic work and the relationship itself.

Lists with This Book. Someone who was less into meditation might not be as charmed with this aspect. I only give this 3-stars because much of it was just too clinical for me.
